Raul Castro Attends Cuban Parliament's Special Session
Havana, May 31 (Prensa Latina) President Raul Castro has attended the opening ceremony of the special session of the National People''s Power Assembly (ANPP), which was convened to analyze several documents governing the economic and social life of the country.
After the presentation of a report by the president of the Permanent Commission for Implementation and Development, Marino Murillo, the legislators to the National Assembly will be divided into four commissions to analyze issues such as the conceptualization of the Cuban Economic and Social Model of Socialist Development, the Guidelines of the Party Policy and the Revolution for the 2016-2021 period.
The Basis of the Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030: Vision of the Nation, Axes and Strategic Sectors, will be also informed.
More than 1,600,000 people participated in the last debates of the governing documents of the updating of the socioeconomic model, according to a report from Granma newspaper.
The members of the different political and grass-roots organizations of the country, as well as all sectors of the Cuban civil society attended the 47,470 meetings.
The current Eighth legislature is composed of 612 legislators, 284 of whom are grass-roots delegates and 299 are women.
The ANPP has in the present legislature (started on February 24th, 2013) 10 Permanent Commissions that carry out research actions throughout the year.
