It is with great admiration that we reflect upon the legacy of Comandante Fidel Castro Ruz, a revolutionary vanguard, statesman and the father of universality whose life and leadership profoundly influenced political education and thought, socio-economic transformation, and international solidarity across the Global South.
Comandante Fidel is widely recognised as one of the twentieth century's most consequential and influential political figures, whose commitment to national sovereignty, social justice, and human dignity continues to inspire leaders, scholars, and policymakers around the world and, in particular, the Global South.
To many across the developing world, Fidel Castro's spirit remains the catalyst for universal access to education and healthcare, scientific advancement, biotechnology, disaster preparedness, sports development, and humanitarian cooperation.
His contributions to international medical cooperation, educational advancement, scientific innovation, and support for liberation movements have left an enduring imprint on global history.
The Kenya-Cuba health partnership, inaugurated in 2018, and numerous scholarship exchanges stand among the many contemporary manifestations of this spirit of solidarity
and cooperation between our two nations.
The ideals championed by Comandante Fidel Castro of social inclusion, human development, sovereign equality, and cooperation among nations remain relevant to the pursuit of shared prosperity and sustainable development across the Global South.
