Geneva, November 14, 2025. The Cuban Office of Industrial Property (OCPI) was represented at the Roundtable on South-South Cooperation in Intellectual Property, held on November 13 and 14 at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. The Cuban delegation was headed by Lyan Marsans Castellanos, Head of the Department of Legal Advisory and International Relations of the OCPI.
The purpose of the meeting was to promote South-South and triangular cooperation as tools to support development in the field of intellectual property. During the working sessions, representatives from around 35 WIPO member countries exchanged experiences, challenges, and opportunities to strengthen national capacities in this area.
Topics discussed included the design of effective initiatives, best practices for the sustainability and stability of intellectual property systems, and the role of creative economies and industries. Participants also debated new forms of innovation applied to South-South and triangular cooperation mechanisms.
The participation of the OCPI reinforces Cuba’s commitment to building strategic alliances that promote development, innovation, and the responsible use of intellectual property for the benefit of the countries of the global South.
