Athens, October 7. Representatives of the Greek Committee applying for the Nobel Peace Prize for the internationalist contingent of Cuban doctors Dr Henry Reeve, Velissarios Kossyvakis, coordinator of the Committee; Giannis Milios, professor emeritus, who was the personality who submitted the application to the Norwegian Nobel Committee on behalf of the Greek Committee and Takis Varelas famous plastic artist, held a meeting with Cuba's ambassador to Greece Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina at the Cuban diplomatic headquarters.
The Greek friends officially delivered a copy of the letter sent to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, as well as the newsletter on the Greek initiative that already has more than 100,000 signatures, and will continue to collect until January 31, 2021. They also delivered the letter. acceptance response from the Norwegian committee on the submitted application.
The artist Takis Varelas delivered the painting he made, which served as the basis for the logo of the Greek initiative's campaign, to mobilize the collection of signatures for the Nobel's request for Cuban doctors.
The friends explained the actions carried out, the importance of Cuba's internationalist work, which they support, and highlighted their condemnation of the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba. Possible activities to be carried out, when pandemic conditions permit, were also analyzed, including a great concert of support for Cuba by some of the more than 200 artists who signed the initiative.
The ambassador thanked the solidarity support and highlighted the importance of the efforts of the friends of Cuba, against the blockade, and with this type of initiatives that, above all, show the reality of Cuba and deny the campaigns of lies about Cuban medical cooperation, highlighting their humanism and solidarity.
The friendship between the Greek and Cuban peoples was once again demonstrated.
