Representatives of the Norwegian newspaper “Friheten” paid a visit to Cuba

Oslo, October 19, 2022. From October 5 to 8, Odd-Jarl Gerhardsen and Birgit Skjaeret, editor-in-chief and member of the Editorial Board, respectively, of the Norwegian Communist Party (NKP) newspaper Friheten, paid a visit to Cuba.

During their stay, together with representatives of publications from other countries, they held a productive meeting with a group of Cuban personalities made up of the president of the Cuban Book Institute, Juan Rodríguez Cabrera; the director of the publishing house “Ciencias Sociales”, Michel Torres Corona, and the director of the journal “Cuba Socialista”, Enrique Ubieta Gómez. Officials from the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC PCC) were also present.

The representatives of Friheten also visited the Granma newspaper, official voice of the CC PCC, where they were received by a team headed by its deputy director, Dilbert Reyes Rodríguez.

The program in Havana also included a visit to the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, an institution created to disseminate, study and investigate the thought and work of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, as well as to La Corbata neighborhood, where they learned about the transformations that are being carried out to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants.

Prior to their departure, Odd-Jarl Gerhardsen and Birgit Skjaeret had the opportunity to participate in the political and cultural event that took place on October 8, in Santa Clara, to pay tribute to Ernesto Che Guevara, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of his  fall in combat. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
