A message from the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, to those attending the IV Plenum of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, which concluded yesterday at the Palace of the Revolution, was read by its First Secretary and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
The President added that Raúl had watched the Plenum discussions and would be in the Plaza on May Day.
The economy was the center of analyses during the second, final day of the meeting. On this note, Joel Queipo, Central Committee Secretariat member and head of its Productive Economic Department, commented that attention to all economic actors requires a profoundly ideological approach and is critical to the present and future of the nation. He added that the Party has the unifying capacity to coordinate implementation of measures adopted by the government and then demand compliance.
For his part, Diaz-Canel noted that, in order to understand the scope of the issues at hand, we must take into account the context in which we function: a world based on the hegemony of the United States, which has unleashed a communicational war to protect its domination, seeking to cause confusion and alienation. Díaz-Canel explained that the pandemic and the intensified blockade have had a social impact, requiring us to communicate better and put a face on this hostile policy and the damage it causes Cuban families, children and youth.
He insisted that this May Day march will be a tremendously beautiful expression of 63 years of active, non-conformist, non-defeatist resistance. We are going to together paint a landscape of unity and continuity, the landscape of a Revolution in power, he said.
