As part of the International Rueda de Casino Flash Mob, 19 dance couples gathered in Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia, to show their love for casino and salsa.
This Rueda de Casino took place at the National Botanical Garden of Malaysia, Perdana Botanical Garden, and was organized by dance instructors Andrew Sureshkumar and Sherilyn Foo.
Among the dancers was the Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Florentino Batista González, who said he was very proud that one of the manifestations of popular dance in Cuba, the Rueda de Casino, has become an experience of international reach.
In addition to Malaysian dancers, dance fans from other countries such as France, Finland and Peru participated in this Rueda and they performed with the songs La Moda and Havana City by the Cuban group Los Van Van, considered one of the most popular salsa groups in the world.
In a Rueda de Casino, several couples dance around a circle and follow the commands of a leader or "singer." The leader announces the movements and turns to be performed, and all the dancers execute the steps in unison.
The Rueda de Casino multiflashmob was held in the urban centers of some of the main cities in the world this April.
