Ruggles Ferguson, prestigious Grenadian jurist, voices support for Cuba in TeleSUR interview

Ruggles Ferguson, King’s Counsel and renowned Grenadian jurist, gave statements to TeleSUR within the framework of the solidarity campaign with Cuba currently taking place in Grenada. During the interview, he expressed his firm support for the Island, which continues to suffer the accumulated consequences of the economic blockade imposed by the United States.

In the interview, Ferguson stressed that the coercive measures against Cuba constitute a violation of international law and a direct attack on the dignity of its people. He noted that the blockade has created serious difficulties in the daily lives of Cubans, restricting access to basic resources and affecting the nation’s development.

The Grenadian jurist affirmed that solidarity with Cuba is inseparable from the defense of regional sovereignty. He explained that standing with the Island also means defending the principles of independence and social justice that sustain Caribbean identity, and he called for unity in the face of external pressures.

Ferguson highlighted Cuba’s historic role in international cooperation, recalling its support in areas such as health and education. As one of the leaders of initiatives in support of Cuba, he emphasized that this longstanding tradition of solidarity constitutes an additional reason to maintain both political and human backing for the Island.
