Saint Lucia was represented at the Anti-Imperialist Meeting in Havana: For solidarity and democracy.

With the assistance of more than 1,200 delegates from 95 countries, the Anti-Imperialist Solidarity Meeting, for Democracy and Against Neoliberalism closed its sessions, after meeting in Havana the first days of November. In order to unite the progressive forces in terms of peace and against neoliberal policies, the Cuban Chapter of Social Movements and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples organized the meeting, where participated leaders of social movements, personalities of the intellectual world and academic, they exchanged about the international scenery in the face of new challenges and global threats. The President of the Republic Miguel Diaz Canel and the General Secretary of the Party, Raul Castro, were present at the close of the meeting.

Fernando González Llort, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) said that there have been “60 years of blockade and here we are, happy and optimistic, convinced that with the strength and solidarity of all of you, nothing will never be able to defeat us. No better platform than this space to say that Cuba will never renounce its principles and solidarity ”. Marlene Alexander, President of the Humanistic Association of Solidarity Cuba / Saint Lucia, attended the meeting and represented the brother people of Saint Lucia.
