The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Allen Chastanet, received in his office on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, the Cuban ambassador in that island, Jorge Soberon. During the meeting, the state of cooperation between the two countries was updated. The Cuban Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for mentioning the friendship that unites the two Caribbean countries, in his speech at the High Level Debate of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, which took place in New York. The Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, reaffirmed Saint Lucia's opposition to the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba. During the meeting, the Caribbean island's effort to overcome the negative consequences of the recent meteorological events that hit them was confirmed and the will of Cuba and Saint Lucia to continue working together to strengthen our region was ratified.
