Salsa Workshop on Cuban Culture Day

The Hague, October 22, 2025. As part of the celebrations for Cuban Culture Day, the Embassy of Cuba in the Netherlands, together with the Hispanic Association of The Hague, organized a Salsa Workshop.

The evening began with a few brief remarks from the Ambassador, who recalled the historic feat of Bayamo, when the notes of our National Anthem were sung for the first time, and highlighted the value of music as a vehicle for communication between different cultures.

For her part, the president of the Hispanic Association of The Hague highlighted salsa as the fusion of Cuban rhythms such as son, rumba, and mambo, which laid the musical foundations for what is enjoyed today in many corners of the planet.

The workshop was taught by Shekil Pervaiz, a Cuban dance teacher and cultural event organizer based in the Netherlands, with his company "La Pachanga." Attendees were delighted by the teacher's talent and the imprint of Cuban rhythms.

The celebration concluded with the traditional Rueda de Casino, a symbol of Cuban culture.
