The Zimbabwean daily The Herald published an article by the Cuban Ambassador to Harare, Carmelina Ramírez Rodríguez, on occasion of October 25, Day of Solidarity with Zimbabwe for the elimination of all forms of sanctions, an initiative declared by the SADC. The diplomat stressed that Cuba understands the nature of unilateral economic sanctions. For 60 years, the successive governments of the United States have imposed an iron and inhuman economic, commercial and financial blockade on Cuba. The Cuban people have been creative and have firmly resisted the onslaught of the worst economic siege, which has tried to suffocate the nation.
The Cuban representative described the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe as illegal and unfair, asserting that they affect the strategy that the government has put in place to develop the country and the daily lives of ordinary people. Ramírez reiterated Cuba's solidarity with Zimbabwe and to continue denouncing in all international scenarios, particularly in the United Nations, the inhuman nature of the unilateral sanctions against our countries.
