Riyadh, September 15th – The Kingdoms of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, as well as the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen, which are part of the so-called Group of 77 and China, are well represented at its summit of Heads of State and Government that, under the theme: "Current Development Challenges: Role of Science, Technology and Innovation", is celebrated on September 15th and 16th in Havana, Cuba.
On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and King of Saudi Arabia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, heads the delegation of his country and does so accompanied by the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, and the Saudi Ambassador to Cuba, Mr. Faisal Falah Al-Harbi.
For its part, Bahrain has as its main representative the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, who participates in the great event together with Mr. Jamal Faris Al-Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of that Kingdom to the United Nations, Mr. Hamad Ali Al-Mannaie, Advisor to the Minister for Political Affairs, and Mr. Talal Abdulsalam Al-Ansari, General Director at the Foreign Ministry.
The head of the Oman delegation is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sayyid Badr bin Hamed bin Hamood Al-Busaidi, who attends accompanied by the Itinerant Ambassador, Mr. Abdulaziz Abdullah Zahir Al-Hinai, and the head of the Directorate for International Trade, Economy of Knowledge and Technology, Mr. Afkar Nadhim Ali Al-Farsi.
The official Yemeni delegation is headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, and is accompanied by Councilors Ahmed Al-Sharabi and Salem bin Mubarak.
During their stay in Havana and on the sidelines of the summit, the four foreign ministers will also develop a program of bilateral meetings with Cuban authorities and counterparts from other countries to exchange on issues of mutual interest.
The Group of 77 and China currently has 134 members and it has become the largest intergovernmental organization of developing countries in the UN, providing the means for Southern nations to articulate and promote their collective economic interests and enhance their joint negotiating capacity on the main economic issues.
