Riyadh, June 13th - Ambassador Vladimir Gonzalez met the Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Foreign Ministry of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Saud bin Mohammad Al-Sati, who last May paid a visit to Cuba, presiding over the delegation of the Kingdom to the V round of inter-chancellery political consultations.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Sati pondered on the positive experience of his trip to the Island, where he had the opportunity to be received by the minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, and then celebrate political consultations with his counterpart, deputy minister Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo. In addition, he held meetings with the first deputy minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ana Teresita Gonzalez Fraga, and the rector of the Higher Institute of International Relations, Rogelio Sierra Diaz.
The Undersecretary described his brief stay in Havana as useful, not only to review bilateral relations and address issues of common interest at the regional and international level, but also to point out the areas in which bilateral collaboration can be established, as the academic one, in addition to the coordination already existing in the health sector.
For his part, the Ambassador took advantage of the occasion to convey Dr. Al-Sati a copy of the invitation letter from the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, addressed to the Custodian of the Two Holly Mosques and King of Saudi Arabia, His Majesty Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to attend the summit of heads of state and government of the Group of 77 plus China (G77+China).
In this regard, the Undersecretary reiterated what was stated on the occasion of his visit to the archipelago, in the sense that Saudi Arabia supports the initiatives undertaken by Cuba’s pro-tempore presidency of G77+China and will undoubtedly be represented at the summit of that organization, to be held in Havana on September 15th and 16th, 2023.
