Riyadh, May 19th - The Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Mr. Ahmed Aqeel Al-Khateeb, began a brief working visit to Cuba, as envoy of the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia and as part of a tour by the Caribbean region.
Mr. Al-Khateeb, who is accompanied by a large delegation of officials from his ministry, the SFD and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will hold official talks with high-ranking Cuban authorities mainly linked to the economic and commercial sector.
Likewise, the minister plans to sign some bilateral agreements related to important collaboration projects between the SFD and its different Cuban counterparts, with an important social impact on the Island's people.
In 2010, the SFD began its collaboration with Cuba and since then several agreements have been signed and executed as proof of the willingness of both parties to continue with the exchange in economic and commercial matters.
This visit by the Minister of Tourism is the second most important made to Cuba by a high Saudi authority, after the one made in 2018 by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Adel Ahmed Al-Jubeir, the first by a Foreign Minister of the Kingdom, and who today serves as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Envoy for Climate Affairs.
