Screening of the Cuban film "A Translator" at the Cinemateket in Copenhagen

The screening of the Cuban film "A Translator", directed by Sebastian and Rodrigo Barriuso was held on June 17 at the Cinematheque (Cinemateket) in Copenhagen. The movies received a very positive reaction from the public.

In the opening remarks, Cuba's Ambassador to Denmark, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas, evoked the humanitarian programme of medical assistance provided to child victims of Chernobyl nuclear disaster who were treated in the Caribbean Island. She highlighted that more than 26 thousand people, especially children, received medical assistance in Cuba between 1990 and 2016, thanks to this solidarity programme. In addition, she conveyed that a new programme of cooperation which is inspired on the former programme “Children of Chernobyl” will also benefit other 50 Ukrainian children in 2019, which are going to receive medical treatment in Cuba.

The Cuban diplomat expressed that the movie has been awarded in some international film festivals.

The screening of this film took place within the framework of the Latin American Film Festival organized by the Cinematheque in Copenhagen jointly with Casa Latinoamericana. Members of the accredited diplomatic corps, parliamentarians, Cuban residents in Denmark, intellectuals, artists and the Danish public in general, among others attended to the Cinematheque.
