NASSAU, October 14th, 2015. On Tuesday, October 13th, it was officially inaugurated in The Bahamas, the Second Cuban Cultural Week, which will take place until Friday, October 16th.
The second edition of the Second Cuban Cultural Week has been organized by the Cuban Embassy in this capital and the School of Liberal Arts of the College of The Bahamas (COB), which is the main venue of this event.
The Cuban Cultural Week, will fulfill throughout this week a wide program of activities including, among other activities, a show of Cuban movies and workshops on different art manifestations.
At the opening of the event were also present the faculty and students of the School of Liberal Arts of the COB; friends of Cuba; the members of the Cuban offices based in Nassau and small representation of the Cuban Community residing in Nassau, all of whom enjoyed the performance of the Cuban String Quintet “Santa Cecilia”, musical group that travelled to The Bahamas to carry out the Fourth Cultural Exchange between Nassau and Camaguey.
On their speeches, the Chargé d´Affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in this capital, Ms. Yoslaidy Clemente López and the Dean of School of Liberal Arts of the COB, Dr. Ian Bethel-Bennett, highlighted the increased exchange between institutions and artists of both countries, which has contributed to the excellent state of the bilateral relations between Cuba and The Bahamas, particularly in the field of culture.
The Cuban Cultural Week reaffirms itself, as an action that contributes to a deeper understanding of the Cuban and Bahamian cultures, which, despite the fact of having particular characteristics that differentiate them from one another, share common roots that grants them the category of unique.
