Second Edition of the "To Cuba with Love" Painting Contest for Cuban Culture Day

The second edition of the Children's and Youth Painting Contest "To Cuba with Love," organized by the Cuban Embassy in Athens, was held at its facilities this Saturday, October 18th, in honor of Cuban Culture Day and attended by a representation of family members and other members of the Cuban community residing in Greece.
On this occasion, the event had a special significance as it featured the presence of the prominent Cuban violinist, composer, professor, and music producer, Joaquín Betancourt, National Music Prize winner, who has also received the Distinction for National Culture and other important awards, both in Cuba and abroad.
More than 15 children and young people participated in the contest, whose call was announced several weeks in advance. They submitted a total of 19 drawings and paintings. The jury selected the top three winners, along with others who received special mentions and the corresponding diplomas and prizes. All participating children and young people also received recognition diplomas.
Additionally, an exhibition of more than 50 works created by children from the "Ioannis Spiliopoúlou" Plastic Arts Association on the island of Salamis was presented, specifically as a contribution and tribute to Cuban Culture Day. The event was also attended by its director, Mina Spiliopoúlou, and several teachers from this renowned cultural institution.
Cuban musician Manuel Vega Sosa, living in Greece, performed several of his own works and provided the musical background for the event.
