Hurghada, July 20, 2026. The second meeting for Cubans living in the Egyptian city of Hurghada took place this morning, with representatives from the Cuban community in attendance.
During the meeting, hosted by Ambassador Alexander Pellicer and First Secretary Odalys Capote, participants discussed various topics of interest from a consular perspective, particularly the services offered by the Embassy to its nationals and the immigration rules and regulations established by Egyptian authorities.
During the cordial meeting, the Cubans raised their questions and concerns regarding immigration matters and expressed their gratitude for the Embassy’s initiative, which gave them the opportunity to engage directly with the diplomatic representatives of Cuba.
Information was also shared regarding the difficult situation Cuba is facing due to the intensification of the blockade, particularly the oil embargo, which is causing great suffering to the Cuban people.
The day before the meeting, a mobile consular service was held, which had a positive impact on the Cuban community that came to request various services, such as passport processing, the issuance of criminal background checks, and a wedding.
In recent years, the Cuban community in Egypt has grown considerably; the vast majority are nationals working in the culture and entertainment sectors at various hotels that today make up this major Egyptian tourist hub located on the Red Sea coast, about 450 kilometers from Cairo. (Embacuba Egipto)
