Kingston, 8 September 2022. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, the Honourable Kamina Johnson-Smith and the Ambassadorof Cuba to Jamaica Fermin Quiñones Sanchez, last night saw off the Coast Guard vessel HMJS Nanny of the Maroons, which was on its way to Santiago de Cuba with a second shipment of medicines and medical supplies as part of the Jamaican government's donation in response to the devastation caused by the fire at the Matanzas supertanker base, both valued at J$20 million.
On its Twitter account, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) again extended its thanks to the Caribbean and Latin Travel agency, the Ministry of Local Trade and Rural Development, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management, the National Health Fund and the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica.
For his part, the Cuban ambassador on his account on the same social network thanked for this solidarity action and reaffirmed that this is a reflection of the bonds of friendship that unite both governments and peoples.
According to information received from the Heroic City, the Jamaican vessel arrived at its port hours before noon today, where it was received by military and government authorities of the province.
