A second solidarity dinner with Cuba was held in Saint Andrews, Grenada. On this occasion, institutional representatives, community leaders, and members of the campaign in support of the Island came together. The gathering became a space for reaffirming the fraternity between both peoples and for backing initiatives aimed at alleviating the difficulties faced by Cuba as a result of the coercive measures imposed by the United States.
During the event, leaders of the solidarity campaign emphasized that the collections and actions promoted in Grenada are more than material contributions; they represent an expression of conscience and justice. Their words highlighted the importance of maintaining regional unity in the face of adversity.
Taking the floor, the Ambassador of Cuba in Grenada, Yadirys Echenique Paz, expressed gratitude for the support of the Grenadian people and denounced the effects of the recent energy siege imposed against the Island. She explained that Cuba’s fuel demand requires around eight ships per month, but so far in 2026 only one has arrived. In light of this situation, she underscored the importance of international solidarity and affirmed: “Solidarity is the force that unites peoples in the face of adversity.”
The dinner was promoted by Senate President Dessima Williams and was also attended by Minister of Agriculture and Lands, Fisheries and Cooperatives, Lennox Andrews, and Minister of Tourism, Creative Economy and Culture, Adrian A. Thomas. The presence of these authorities confirms the official support of the Caribbean nation for the Cuban cause.
Grenadians who graduated from Cuban universities also participated in the evening, recalling the historic bond of educational cooperation between the two countries. Their testimonies highlighted Cuba’s role in training Grenadian professionals and reinforced the legitimacy of the solidarity expressed in the campaign.
For their part, Cubans residing on the small Caribbean island also joined the initiative, an expression that the community settled in Grenada maintains strong ties with their homeland.
