Uganda, October 15, 2018.- The Secretary General of the National Council for the Defense of Democracy - Forces for the Defense of Democracy of Burundi (CNDD-FDD), Evariste Ndayishimiye, the Cuban Ambassador to that country, Antonio Luis Pubillones Izaguirre, at the headquarters of that organization within the framework of a concurrence visit made by the Ambassador between October 8 and 11.
The Burundian leader offered the Ambassador an overview of the activities carried out by that political force at present and the programs carried out by the Government Party for the socio-economic development of his country. He also stressed that his people and Government will always be grateful for the collaboration and friendship and solidarity of the island.
The Cuban diplomat took the opportunity to exchange with the party leader on the current constitutional reform process, aspects of the conceptualization of the new Cuban economic-social model and on the presentation in the UN for the 27th consecutive time, on October 31, of the Cuban draft resolution calling for the lifting of the US economic, commercial and financial siege against the Cuban people; besides other topics of bilateral and multilateral interest.
During the meeting, which took place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, both sides agreed on the importance of continuing to strengthen the ties between the Communist Party of Cuba and CNDD-FDD and reiterated their willingness to work on that common objective.
On the Burundian side, the National Information and Communications Secretary of the Party, Nancy-Ninette Mutoni, also participated in the meeting. (Embacuba Uganda)
