Athens, 9 September. The Communist Party of Greece's (KKE) solidarity with the Cuban revolution and support against America's unjust economic, trade and financial blockade against Cuba was reaffirmed. KKE's support for the Greek initiative to apply for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize was also emphasized for the internationalist contingent of Cuban doctors named Henry Reeve, during the meeting between Cuba's ambassador to Greece Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina and embassy counsellor José Oriol Marrero Martínez with KKE General Secretary (SG) Dimitris Koutsoumpas and KKE Political Bureau member in charge of International Relations Giorgio Marinos, at the venue of the party. Issues of mutual interest were discussed and friendship between the Greek and Cuban peoples was reaffirmed. In statements to the Greek media, after the meeting, the KKE SG stressed the importance of solidarity with the Cuban people in these difficult times of pandemic, in which, despite the blockade, the Cuban people fight and help others with their medical brigades.
