Secretary General of the Ghana Trade Union Congress receives Cuban Ambassador.

Accra, 22 September 2023. - The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Ghana, Anette Chao García, was received by the Secretary General of the TUC, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, at his office in Accra.

Relations between the diplomatic headquarters and this Ghanaian institution date back many years and their ties have grown stronger over time. Ghana's trade unions have supported Cuba in many ways, including expressions of solidarity now, when the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America is battering the people of the island.

The meeting served to thank the Ghanaian brothers and sisters for their signs of affection towards Cuba, as well as to deliver an official invitation letter from the General Secretary of the Cuban Workers' Central Union to his Ghanaian counterpart.

The Cuban Ambassador acknowledged that 26 trade union leaders participated in the May Day Parade in her country in 2023. For his part, Dr. Yaw Baah thanked for the invitation and reaffirmed the readiness of Ghanaian trade unions to support the people and Government of Cuba. He expressed his disagreement with the blockade imposed by the United States on the island and called for its end. Baah noted that it is an obsolete policy that harasses a nation that sends doctors and teachers -not weapons- to those who need them most. He also said that his country is very proud to have first-class professionals trained in the Greater Antilles.
