Islamabad, May 21, 2026. In a gesture of courtesy, solidarity, and friendship, the Secretary General of the International Parliamentarians Congress, Ms. Sitara Ayaz, paid a visit to the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Damián Cordero Torres.During the cordial visit, the IPC Secretary General was accompanied by her chief technical advisor, Mr. Mohammad Naeem Murtaza, and both briefed the Cuban Ambassador on the mission being undertaken by the organization she represents, which is headquartered in this capital and serves as a global platform for parliamentarians worldwide, with a membership spanning 64 countries, including Cuba. The parliamentary representative also took the opportunity to congratulate the Cuban Ambassador on his appointment to this country.

Both representatives were very clear on the importance of fostering ties of friendship, cooperation, and the exchange of experiences in a world burdened by war, where the resolution of conflicts through peace is imperative.

The ambassador thanked both representatives for their assessments and for continuing to foster closer ties between Cuban parliamentarians and the organization they represent, particularly at a time when solidarity is more crucial than ever in the face of the U.S. blockade and bellicose threats against Cuba.
