Vientiane April 29, 2025. The Secretary General of the People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, received Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa in southern Ho Chi Minh City.
We held a cordial and pleasant meeting in which we discussed important aspects of the events in both sister nations, the member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) posted on social media X.
Present at the meeting, Aymeé Díaz, an official from the International Relations Department of the CCP Central Committee, added that during the talks, "the excellent ties between the Parties, governments, and peoples of Laos and Cuba, based on friendship and mutual support, were confirmed."
Valdés Mesa and Sisoulith are in Ho Chi Minh City to participate in the commemorative activities for the liberation of the South and National Reunification, the main event of which will take place on, Wednesday, April 30.
The Cuban vice president participated today, along with his Vietnamese counterpart, Vo Thi Anh Xuan, in the opening of an exhibition of posters dedicated to Vietnam by prominent Cuban graphic artists.
The exhibition, Valdés Mesa reported on his X social media account, reflects the reality experienced by the Vietnamese people in the 1960s and 1970s.
The Cuban vice president also highlighted in his X profile his meeting the day before with Anh Xuan, in which they held "an in-depth exchange that evaluated aspects of the state of relations" between the two countries.
According to the VNA news agency, the Vietnamese vice president reiterated that, regardless of the circumstances, Vietnam considers Cuba a key and reliable partner.
Anh Xuan also emphasized that the Vietnamese people always value and remember the sincere solidarity and valuable support that the Communist Party, the State, and the people of Cuba have provided to their country for nearly seven decades.
Valdés Mesa, meanwhile, expressed his joy at once again visiting the Indochinese nation, this time to participate in such a significant commemorative event for the Vietnamese people, and highlighted the country's achievements in the 50 years since liberation and national reunification.
He also expressed his confidence that Vietnam will continue to reach successes in its construction and development process, and will serve as a model of economic progress and social well-being for developing countries.
