Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress of Ghana is opposed to the blockade against Cuba

The Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Mr. Pedro Luis Despaigne González was received at the General Headquarters of the Trades Union Congress of Ghana (TUC) by the Secretary General, Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah.

During the meeting, the parties addressed issues related to the historical ties between Cuba and Ghana, and ratified the friendship ties between the TUC and the Workers' Central Union of Cuba (CTC). The Cuban Ambassador, who thanked the permanent solidarity received from the TUC, outlined aspects of the participation of Cuban workers in the process of construction of the Cuban society and stressed about the current stage of the struggle against the US blockade imposed to the Cuban people. Dr. Yaw Baah, addressed the support of Cuba to the formation and training of Ghanaian human resources, especially in the Health sector. In addition, he disagreed with the maintenance by the United States of America of a hostile policy against the Cuban people, who have only offered solidarity.

The TUC General Secretary expressed feel pleasant satisfaction of receiving in the General Headquarters of the Ghanaian workers to the first Ambassador of them accredited in the country, after having been selected for the position in the 10th Quadrennial Congress of Delegates of the TUC held last August.

Other members of the TUC Executive Committee were at the meeting, the Chairman, Reverend Richard Kwasi Yeboah; First Vice Chairman, Mr. Alexander Opoku Nyarko; Second Vice Chairman, Mrs. Philomena Abe Sampson; Deputy General Secretary, Mr.   Joshua Ansah; Head Administration and Legal, Mr. Paapa Kwasi Danquah.
