Shortwood Teachers College Spanish Club gets closer to Cuban culture

Kingston, 17 October 2024. Second Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba in Jamaica Rolando Dávila Gallardo and Third Secretary Anabel Landrón Ochoa participated in a session of the Shortwood Teachers College Spanish Club, dedicated to Cuban culture.

During the exchange, the Cuban diplomats discussed the literary legacy of Alejo Carpentier and noted the knowledge acquired by the students about his book ‘El reino de este mundo’ (The Kingdom of this World). They also explored Cuban filmography and the life of Cuba's national hero José Martí, through the film Inocencia, by the director Alejandro Gil.

The meeting was also attended by members of the Cuban Educational Brigade and Cuban residents involved in the education sector in Jamaica.
