The Socialist Workers' Party of Türkiye (TSIP) held a solidarity rally for Cuba in response to the U.S. government's intensified blockade.
The event took place in the Turkish city of Izmir on April 26, with hundreds of TSIP members and supporters of the Cuban Revolution in attendance.
TSIP President Turgut Koçak expressed his rejection of President Donald Trump’s policy against the Cuban people, condemned the blockade—which has intensified under the current administration with the implementation of an oil embargo—and highlighted the imperialist nature of the U.S. government.
For his part, the Counselor of the Cuban Embassy, Oscar Redondo Ramos, who was invited to the event, thanked the participants for their expressions of solidarity and provided examples illustrating the consequences of the blockade for the Cuban people, based on the measures implemented by the U.S. government and intensified following President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The Cuban diplomat reaffirmed the Cuban people’s determination to defend their sovereignty, independence, and political principles, even in the face of the current economic sanctions.
