Solidarity Association in Denmark reaffirms support to Cuba and pays tribute to Che Guevara and Fidel

Statement of the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship in support to Cuba

In a moving act of revolutionary reaffirmation, the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship celebrated the 89th birthday of the Heroic Guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara and in this framework it was also paid homage to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

At the event, the Cuban consul in Denmark, Ares Valdés Acea, made a presentation on the validity of the thought of Che Guevara and his presence in all battles of the Cuban Revolution since its earliest days to the present stage, even if no longer count with him physically.

Likewise, the president of the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship, Sven Erik Simonsen, presented in the activity a Danish edition of "History Will Absolve Me", which pays tribute to the Commander-in-Chief. This edition includes a comprehensive and detailed preface drafted by Simonsen on the life of Fidel, and concludes with a text dedicated to the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution after his death, written by the Danish journalist Dines Boertmann, from Danish Broadcasting Corporation(DR).

In that context, it was also denounced the new aggressive and interventionist policy announced by the president of the USA, Donald Trump, delivered on June 16. The President of the Danish-Cuban Association of Friendship transmitted the declaration of solidarity with Cuba issued regarding Trump’s announcement. The Cuban Ambassador to Denmark, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas, ratified the commitment of the Cuban revolutionaries to continue defending their sovereignty and independence, towards the construction of a prosperous and sustainable socialism.
