Solidarity organizations in Barbados hosted a heartfelt solidarity concert that brought together friends of Cuba, members of the Cuban community residing in Barbados, and representatives from various sectors of Barbadian society for an evening dedicated to friendship, culture, and the brotherhood between the two peoples.
The audience enjoyed an outstanding performance by the band Cubbarita and the talented singer Marissa, who delivered a vibrant and moving show. Their performance transformed the evening into a true celebration of the deep ties that unite Cuba and Barbados, demonstrating that music serves as a bridge of understanding, respect, and solidarity between our peoples.
The event was masterfully hosted by young Cuban-born journalist Josué Nelson, whose professionalism, warmth, and sensitivity gave the evening a unique character through an exceptional presentation that seamlessly combined poetry, history, and heartfelt messages of solidarity.
One of the most meaningful moments of the evening was the presentation to the Embassy of two paintings dedicated to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, created by solidarity activist Neilo and his son. These works, reflecting their talent and commitment to Cuba, constitute a valuable gesture of friendship and a symbol of the profound feelings of solidarity that unite the peoples of Barbados and Cuba.
The financial contributions made by those in attendance will be used to purchase and ship essential supplies to Cuba amid the country's energy crisis and the intensified economic blockade imposed against the island.
