Athens, 1 December. The Cuban Hellenic Association of Friendship in Thessaloniki organized in the City Hall, an important event of solidarity with Cuba under the motto: Hands outside Cuba. NOT to the unfair economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba.
Apostolis Skoufas, president of the Association; Zelmys María Domínguez Cortina, Cuban ambassador to Greece; Nikos Mottas, secretary general of the Association and member of the council of the municipality for the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and Nikos Tsokas, Vice-President of the Peace Movement and member of the KKE Central Committee.
The speakers mentioned the history of the Cuban revolution, its achievements, its struggles and victories, the affectations of the blockade to the Cuban people and their heroism and resistance in these 60 years of revolution. Greek friends also paid tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro three years after his physical disappearance.
A very emotional moment was the delivery of a badge of recognition to Fotis Giorgiadis, founder of the Association and its president for many years. Friend of Cuba always present in battles against the blockade and for solidarity with the Cuban people.
The event concluded with the performance of the duo Los capos, who sang patriotic songs such as Hasta siempre Comandante (For ever Commander) , La Guantanamera and others.
Among the more than 100 attendees were KKE leaders at the regional level, and at Thessaloniki, members of the KKE Central Committee, militants from KKE and Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), representatives of various political forces, members of the association, Cubans residents in Thessaloniki headed for its president and general public.
It was one more example of the solidarity and love of the Greek people with the Cuban people.
