Athens, July 21. The Hellenic Cuban Friendship and Solidarity Association of Athens (AHC), organized a massive event of solidarity with Cuba at the Veterans Association (SFEA), at the Liberty Park, for the 68th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks on July 26 1953. In the event the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba and the new imperialist plan with lies campaigns against the Cuban revolution were condemned.
Veterans Association President Spiros Halvatsis welcomed and AHC President Nikos Karandreas gave a brief greeting to the event. The central words were given by the Cuban Ambassador to Greece Zelmys María Domínguez Cortina, and the Vice President of the AHC Katerina Geraki. Additionally, AHC member Babis Zafeiratos recited a poem that he wrote especially for the occasion.
Among the more than 100 people present at the event were representatives of various political forces, friends of Cuba in general, and personalities such as Giorgos Marinos, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Costas Papadakis, member of the CC of the KKE and MEP of the KKE, the trade unionist Konstantina Kouneva and the president of the Greek Committee for Peace Stavros Tassos.
It was an excellent opportunity where the maneuvers against Cuba in recent days were explained in detail, and the friends of Cuba reaffirmed their permanent solidarity with the Cuban people and government.
