SOLIDARITY WITH CUBA HIGHLIGHTED AT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE COMMEMORATING THE 80th ANNIVERSARY OF THE FIFTH PAN-AFRICAN CONGRESS

Accra, 18 November. His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, today inaugurated the International Conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Fifth Pan-African Congress in Manchester, 1945.

In his address, he called upon all Pan-African organizations and political forces present at the event to express solidarity with Jamaica and Cuba and to assist, to the greatest extent possible, in mobilizing resources for the recovery from the severe damage caused by Hurricane Melissa, which struck the Caribbean. President Mahama recalled that, during a ceremony held at the Jubilee House on 7 November, he presented a significant donation to our country and to Jamaica.

For her part, Yuneidys Imber Chaple, Deputy Head of the Social Sector Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, who led the Cuban delegation to the event, expressed gratitude to the brotherly people of Ghana for their noble gesture toward Cuba. She further underscored unity as the essential path to withstand the challenges imposed by imperialist predominance, of which Cuba stands as a modest example.
