Athens, December 14th. Important event of solidarity with Cuba was the inauguration of the headquarters of the Cuban Hellenic Association of Friendship Venceremos in Kalamata. The president of the association Andreas Haikalis and the ambassador of Cuba to Greece Zelmys María Domínguez Cortina took the floor. Also present were the counsellor of the embassy José Oriol Marrero Martínez and friends of the association.
The ambassador answered several questions from the attendants, and there was an interesting debate about Cuba's current situation, relations with the US, the new measures of the current US government, the effects of unfair economic, commercial and financial blockade of U.S. against Cuba, among other issues of interest. Local television, and local Kalamata newspapers, as well as the national newspaper Rizospatis of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), covered the activity.
The solidarity friends present have a long history of friendship with the Cuban revolution and made multiple anecdotes of their life and their relationship with Cuba. In the new headquarters of the association, in a place christened as the "red nest", there are multiple allegorical decorations of Cuba, portraits of Che and Fidel and slogans such as “With Cuba for all times”, “Until victory always”, and flags from Cuba, Greece and the Movement July 26.
It was a night full of friendship and support from the Greek people to the Cuban people.
