MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA, October 8, 2016.Second Secretary in charge of consular affairs at the Embassy of Cuba in Kingston, Rigoberto Zarza Ross, held a fruitful meeting with the members of the Friendship Association Jamaica-Cuba, chapter Montego Bay, during which the attendees paid homage to the key dates of October, in particular, the demise of Ernesto Che Guevara.
With the motto “Together we advance”, the members of the renewed friendship association reviewed the work carried out during last year, with the reactivation of the friendship with Cuba organization. The parties celebrated the granting of a scholarship to study Medical Sciences at ELAM to the former president of the association.
Likewise, the new president Jamila Brown related her experience with the XXIII Latin American and Caribbean Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba, organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples last August, that she qualified as one of the most fruitful experiences in her life.
It was also stated the condemnation against the US blockade imposed by the United States as a policy of unilateral sanctions that constitutes the main obstacle to the economic development of Cuba, as well as the certainty of a new and overwhelming victory against the genocidal policy at United Nations in the coming days.
The return to Cuba of the territory occupied by the United States Naval Base in Guantanamo, the end of the financing to the internal subversion in Cuba and the condemnation to the selective policies that favour the illegal migration were also widely rejected.
The best part of the event was dedicated to pay homage to the Historic Leader of the Cuban Revolution in his 90t birthday, through the documentary “Ode to the Revolution” that depicts Fidel Castro as the main founder of the revolutionary work and the protagonist of different battles.
The event of also attended by Cuban residents in Montego Bay, the second city in importance in Jamaica and one of the most popular tourist destination of the Caribbean.
