A solidarity event in support of Cuba was held at the “ASTERAS” Municipal Cinema in Nea Ionia, organized by the Combative Cultural Intervention of the Ionic Association.
Ambassador Aramís Fuente Hernández thanked the organizers and the large audience that filled the venue for their support of Cuba and their constant acts of solidarity with its people. In one part of his speech, the diplomat affirmed that in the face of the imperialist enemy's perversity and lust for domination, its constant violations of international law, its contempt for life and peace, and its threats and aggressions against Cuba, the people must continue to rise up united and steadfast alongside her, a symbol whose struggle is also for the other peoples of the world, for the exploited, for the poor, and so that dreams and hopes may persist that a better world is possible.
Also speaking at the event was Niki Chronopoulou, president of the Federation of Administrative Personnel of Higher Education, who was part of the PAME union delegation that recently visited Cuba to reaffirm its solidarity with its people.
The evening also featured an artistic program by guitarist Eva Famba, with the participation of Paraskeva Theodorakis, Gavrili Borbolis, and Eleana Gangouli. Videos were also shown and poems by Pablo Neruda and Nicolás Guillén, dedicated to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, were read.
