Organized by the Elefsina Peace Committee, a solidarity event with Cuba and the heroic struggle of its people was held in the Council Chamber of that municipality.
Following opening remarks by the president of the city's Peace Committee, Dimitris Marougas, Stavros Tassos, president of the Greek Committee for International Détente and Peace (E.E.D.Y.E.), addressed the gathering. Both speakers emphasized that Cuba is not alone and reaffirmed their support and solidarity with the Cuban people's struggle, firmly rejecting the constant threats and aggressions perpetrated against them by US imperialism.
Also speaking at the event was the Cuban ambassador, Aramís Fuente Hernández, who highlighted the ongoing struggle his people have had to wage for more than six decades and the unprecedented strengthening of the criminal and genocidal blockade maintained by the United States as a collective punishment to suffocate the country and create a humanitarian crisis with the aim of ending the revolution.
