Organized jointly by the Cuban Embassy and New Star Art Cinema studios, and attended by a large audience, an event was held in solidarity with the struggle of the Cuban people, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, which was commemorated on June 3rd. The event, entitled "Raúl Castro Ruz, Symbol of an Eternal Revolution," included the screening of videos with some of the most important and emblematic moments in the historical trajectory of this beloved and respected leader of the Cuban Revolution. The event also had special symbolism, as it took place at a crucial moment for the Cuban people, amidst growing threats and the strengthening of the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba and its more recent energy embargo, all of which constitute an unjust and cruel collective punishment that affects all Cuban families. At the meeting, the despicable arrest warrant issued by the United States against Comrade Raúl Castro was also condemned. This warrant, with the perfidious intention of opening a legal process against him, has no legal basis whatsoever, is illegal and illegitimate, and attempts, once again, to turn justice into a political weapon of aggression against Cuba. An emotional moment occurred when tribute was paid to Commander of the Cuban Revolution and Hero of the Republic and of Labor, Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, who had passed away hours earlier. In his opening remarks, Ambassador Aramis Fuente Hernández spoke at length about the rich biography of General Raúl Castro Ruz, whose exemplary life he dedicated entirely to his people and their struggle for independence, sovereignty, and a better world. Finally, he expressed gratitude for the constant and unwavering solidarity shown toward the Cuban people and their struggle, which demonstrates that Cuba is not alone. Among those attending the event were Giorgos Marinos, member of the Executive Committee of the KKE Central Committee, Aris Evangelidis, member of the Central Committee and its International Relations Department, Nikos Karandreas, president of the Hellenic-Cuban Association of Friendship and Solidarity, a significant youth representation, the Federation of Women of Greece, and many other friends and members of the solidarity movement with Cuba.
