In the emblematic SES Theater of Istanbul, where art, history and commitment are combined on the same stage, an emotional meeting of solidarity took place within the framework of the preparatory meetings for the XX European Summit of Solidarity with Cuba.
This event was held with the participation of the First Vice President of ICAP, Noemi Rabaza, the Director of Europe (ICAP), Rigoberto Lazaro Zarza Ross, the Secretary General of TKP, Kemal Okuyan, Nahide Özkan, president of the Association of Cuba-Türkiye Friendship “José Martí”, the Consul General of Cuba in Istanbul Raul E. Madrigal Cárdenas; as well as friends of solidarity; represents not only a space for strategic articulation, but also an opportunity to reaffirm, with conviction and hope, solidarity with the Cuban people.
The speakers expressed that for decades, Cuba has demonstrated to the world that dignity, social justice and sovereignty are non-negotiable. Despite multiple challenges; from the inhumane economic, commercial and financial blockade; to disinformation campaigns and international pressure, the Cuban people have been able to stand up with dignity, creativity and courage.
The idea that solidarity with Cuba is neither circumstantial nor limited in time was reaffirmed; it will continue to be strengthened in accordance with current needs, evolving together with the concrete demands of the Cuban people and assuming new forms of cooperation.
During the solidarity event, an emotional act of recognition was made to the President of the José Martí Friendship Organization, in gratitude for her untiring support and commitment to the cause of the Cuban people.
