The Solidarity Movement with Cuba in Ghana condemns the blockade

A political-cultural event was held at the Cuban Embassy in Accra in solidarity with Cuba, with the presence of the members of the Solidarity Movement with the island, and the presence, among others of the Ambassador Pedro Luis Despaigne González, accompanied by former Ambassadors of Cuba to Ghana, and Ghana to Cuba, Juan Carretero and Kojo Amoo-Gottfried.

In the activity was introduced the Organizing Committee which will coordinate the actions of the different organizations that make up the Solidarity Movement with Cuba to participate in one Ghanaian delegation in the VI African Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, which will be held in the city of Abuja, Nigeria between September 23 and 25.

The main speakers, on behalf of the Solidarity Movement, were the leader of the Socialist Forum of Ghana, Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jr.; the director of the Ideological Institute "Kwame Nkrumah", Mr. Benjamin Anyagre and the First Vice President of the Trades Union Congress of Ghana (TUC), Mr. Alexander Nyarko-Opoku; who unanimously condemned the unjust blockade and application by the Trump administration of Title III of the Helms Burton Law against the Cuban people, and ratified their solidarity presence in the Nigerian capital supporting the Cuban Revolution, and reciprocating the support that the people of the Greater Antilles has provided the African continent.

In his words of thanks to the Solidarity Movement, Ambassador Despaigne highlighted that Ghana was the host country for the II Regional Meeting in November 1997. He expressed confidence that Ghana will be well represented in Abuja and stressed the importance of strengthening the unity of all the friends in defense of the Cuban social project.

The act was enlivened by the accords of the band of the famous Ghanaian musician Amenadzeba Nat Yaw, who during his speech said that one of his greatest dreams is to sing for the Cuban people, which he admires for being an example of firmness and attachment to the principles. The program was covered by the Pan African TV channel, which interviewed the Cuban Ambassador and other participants.
