New York, 8 February 2019. The movement of solidarity with Cuba in New York commemorated today the 60th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, in the place that hosts the progressive organization People's Forum, in this city. Members of solidarity organizations such as Pastors for Peace, the New York-New Jersey Coalition, the July 26th Coalition, Casa de las Americas in New York, the Primero de Mayo Brigade, the Socialist Workers Party, among others, paid tribute not only to Cuba, but to the immortal figure of Fidel Castro Ruz.
The ceremony ended with the statement by Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Permanent Representative of the island to the United Nations, who deeply appreciated the many acts of courage and solidarity that the friends of Cuba in New York have staged in recent months, including the rally against the blockade in November and the recent rally against the maneuvers of the Washington hawks against Venezuela and Cuba in the Security Council.
The diplomat recalled that the Cuban revolution, from Martí to the present day, has counted on the support of sectors within American society, who have demonstrated that Washington's policies do not meet the interests of its people, but the hegemonic and geopolitical interests.
