Kuala Lumpur, October 17- Representatives of the three friendship associations with Cuba in the Philippines, the José Martí Cultural and Friendship Association (PHILCUBA), Friendship and the Friendship Society of the Philippines (PCFS) together with the Cuban ambassador in that country deposited a floral offering before the bust of José Martí, to commemorate the 165th anniversary of his birth that is commemorated this year.
The occasion was auspicious to remember the 150th anniversary of the beginning of our wars of independence, without which the ambassador emphasized, the numerous glorious deeds that contributed to the triumph of the Cuban Revolution would not have taken place, it also ratified that the uniqueness of the Cuban independence process , which continues until today.
The Cuban diplomat stressed that Cuba is still fighting for the end of the unjust blockade imposed on her country for almost six decades and will not give in to blackmail because the sovereignty of the island is not negotiable.
Officials of the mayor's office of the city of Manila were present at the event, who also deposited an offering on behalf of the Mayor.
The bust of José Martí in the Philippines, is located in the Luneta Park and was unveiled in 2001. It is a work of the Cuban painter and sculptor, Alberto Lescay.
