Jamaica, 31 October 2025. The 27th and 28th of October 2025 will long be remembered by the Jamaican people as the day they suffered the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa (Category 5). In these difficult times, the humanist and solidarity principles of the Cuban Revolution have been present.
More than a hundred health collaborators throughout this territory were on the front line in various hospitals and health centres, even when the powerful weather event was at its strongest and, in some cases, the infrastructure of the healthcare facilities was affected.
When weather conditions return to normal, the Cuban human tide does not stop. Every health cooperant is at his or her post, all ready to support the brotherly Jamaican people in whatever task is necessary. They are joined by the members of the Educational Brigade, who from their communities and educational centres contribute to the recovery efforts and to healing the souls of thousands of affected children.
The Jamaican people can be sure of one thing: in difficult times, Cuba will always extend its hand in solidarity.
