Wellington, 8 December 2025.- On 8 December, the Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament, Rt Hon Gerry Brownlee, hosted a reception for the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Wellington. The event took place in a cordial atmosphere conducive to dialogue and exchange.
During the reception, the Speaker expressed his appreciation to all Embassies for their support in strengthening and expanding relations between the New Zealand Parliament and the legislative bodies of the countries represented, highlighting the importance of parliamentary exchanges as a means of deepening mutual understanding and international cooperation.
Cuba recalls with particular appreciation the visit paid to the country by Speaker Gerry Brownlee during his tenure as Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as his continued expressions of support for the work of the Embassy of Cuba in Wellington. In this regard, special note was made of his support for the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and New Zealand, held last year.
The reception provided a valuable opportunity for interaction between the Speaker and members of the Diplomatic Corps, reaffirming the shared commitment to continue promoting respectful and constructive relations between New Zealand and the international community.
