Colombo, November 14, 2025. The Hon. Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament, received the Cuban Ambassador, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, on a farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.
The Ambassador thanked Dr. Wickramaratne for the solidarity shown to Cuba, as well as for the position and efforts of the Sri Lanka-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Association in requesting a vote in favor of the Cuban resolution against the blockade at the United Nations General Assembly. He also highlighted the friendship and affection he received from all sectors of the Sri Lankan population throughout his diplomatic mission.
The meeting, held at the Sri Lankan Parliament building, underscored the positive state of bilateral relations and the interest of both parliaments in strengthening them.
