The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) is fully aware of the global urgent need to continue counteracting the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this regard, CELAC urges the international community and the global pharmaceutical sector to join the efforts being made by governments and multilateral organizations to democratize the production and access to vaccines against COVID-19, being these a global public good, and increase their availability word-wide. Likewise, note is taken of the World Health Organization's call on March 4, 2021, to find a solidarity-based way to promote greater production and availability of these vaccines.
It is imperative that private sector, governments, and international organizations work together to achieve a fair, equitable, supportive, transparent, timely and universal access to vaccines, diagnostic equipment, medicines and other health technologies against COVID-19, including the modernization of medical infrastructure and training of healthcare personnel.
