Colombo, August 13, 2025. At the Cuban Embassy in Sri Lanka, tribute was paid to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, on the 99th anniversary of his birth, celebrated this August 13.
In a simple ceremony next to the bust of the distinguished Commander-in-Chief, which honors the Cuban diplomatic mission, the embassy staff, along with some of the directors of the Association of Sri Lankan Graduates in Cuba, recalled Fidel's legacy, his example, and his revolutionary career. This ceremony, marking his centenary, begins today in Cuba and around the world, paying tribute to a man who continues to be a beacon and light for all revolutionaries and lovers of justice and peace.
The memorial service was attended by Cuban Ambassador Andrés Marcelo González Garrido and First Secretary Maribel Duarte González, along with the President and Organizer of the Sri Lanka Graduates Association in Cuba, Chiththadhamma Rathnamudali and Asitha Dias.
