Colombo, November 18, 2025. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, foreign Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka, the Honorable Vijitha Herath, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.
During the cordial meeting, the Minister highlighted the dedication and work carried out by the Cuban Ambassador in strengthening the historic relations between Cuba and Sri Lanka.
For his part, González Garrido thanked the Minister for his support of Cuba in the vote at the United Nations General Assembly last October on the Cuban resolution against the United States blockade, as well as for the friendship and solidarity shown to his country by the government and people of Sri Lanka during his diplomatic mission.
Finally, the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister expressed his best wishes to the Cuban Ambassador.
Present at the meeting were Aruni Ranaraja, Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ratnasingam Kohularangan, Director General of the Latin America and Caribbean Division, Maribel Duarte González, First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, and other officials from the Sri Lankan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
