Sri Lankan Minister of Industrial Plantations received Ambassador of Cuba

SRI LANKA, October 7, 2020. - The Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, paid a courtesy call to the new Minister of Industrial Plantations of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and member of its parliament, the Honorable Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, at the headquarters of that Ministry.

During the meeting, both parties highlighted the historical friendship and collaboration relations between both countries, as well as expressed their interest in continuing to develop and expand them, particularly in the coconut cultivation and processing sector.

Likewise, they also exchanged on the experiences of both countries in confronting the pandemic caused by COVID 19. The Minister highlighted the solidarity work carried out by Cuban doctors in other countries in the confrontation with the pandemic.

Last year a delegation from the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture visited Sri Lanka to learn about its experiences in the coconut industry sector.

The Secretary of that Ministry, Mr. Ravindra Hewavitharana, was also present at the meeting.
